IT Technician, UK

Job Description:

As Proact continue to grow we’re looking for an enthusiastic IT Technician to help support and manage the end user experience in an energetic and dynamic IT company. You will be supporting our employees with all aspects of their IT experience, from deploying new laptops, troubleshooting hardware and software issues and looking after other devices such as printers and mobile phones. This will be done both in person and remotely, delivering a prompt and professional service to a wide range of users across the business, ensuring cases are logged on the Helpdesk and change management processes are followed where appropriate. This role will be a great opportunity to work with and learn a broad range of technologies and products. You will have great troubleshooting skills and the desire to pick up new systems and knowledge in a fast evolving environment.


Support a cross platform environment, including Windows, iOS and Android.

Deployment, configuration, management and support of Windows laptops

Installation and support of general software applications e.g. Office 365 Apps

Provide onsite or remote technical support for staff members across the UK, the role will include some travel

Document, track, and monitor all problem on the Helpdesk system to ensure a timely resolution

Induct new staff members on IT procedures, policies and best practice

Support of other IT related assets e.g. printers, telephones, access control, CCTV

Keeping up to date with the latest technologies

Ideal Qualifications:

Relevant technical qualification (e.g. Microsoft Desktop Support / Modern Desktop Administrator) or desire to work towards

Work Experience:

  • Good level of experience of desktop support (Windows 10)
  • Microsoft Office 365 Administration (e.g. Exchange Online – managing shared mailboxes, distribution groups, AzureAD – managing group memberships, password resets etc)
  • Experience with Microsoft Intune desirable
  • Active Directory administration – e.g. creating/managing user accounts and groups
  • Basic Windows Server (2012, 2016, 2019) administration e.g. DHCP, DNS, Group Policy, WSUS
  • A good awareness of IT Security and an understanding of the implications surrounding it
  • Ability to operate tools, components and peripheral accessories.
  • Self-confidence and interpersonal skills
  • Analytical, troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Good communication (both verbal and written) skills
  • Planning and organisation skills
  • Able to operate effectively in a team environment with both technical and non-technical team members
  • Able to manage time effectively, set priorities appropriately, schedule calls
  • Able to maintain professional demeanour under pressure
