Proact is extending its cooperation with VMware with a view to providing more opportunities for development and in order to benefit from virtualisation technology in the fields of storage and backup/recovery for their clients. Proact is one of VMware’s Solutions Providers.

Proact has been working in cooperation with VMware for many years. Now the next step is being taken in the two companies’ partnership with a view to continuing to build solutions to increase the degree of virtualisation, resulting in further efficiency gains and cost savings. “A lot of our clients use virtualised server environments, and so they face both challenges and major opportunities when it comes to storage. VMware is at the cutting edge of technology; and our partnership is of strategic importance, allowing us to ensure that we can support our clients in the best way possible in our capacity as an independent integrator,” says Lena Eskilsson, Regional Manager at Proact. This extended cooperation places Proact in a position to offer solutions, expertise and support in the fields of storage and virtualisation, thereby ensuring high levels of data uptime and supreme protection of information against disaster. “Proact is one of the integrators that has made a lot of progress in the field of virtualisation. The clients we share can see the huge opportunities on offer when it comes to developing their IT operations with the aid of virtualisation, and this is an area in which Proact really does have a lot of knowledge and expertise to offer,” says Lars Högberg, Regional Director Nordics at VMware. The strong trend towards building virtual server environments has also brought with it a series of challenges. One critical issue involves how the companies will handle and integrate storage and backup/recovery when copies of code are stored several times over, while also ensuring that it is possible to recreate these quickly. “Virtualisation and consolidation allow an increase in efficiency, but they also lay down more stringent demands for solutions for disaster protection. And in this regard, storage and backup are subject to a whole range of new issues. Technical solutions already exist, but developments in the field are being made quickly,” says Lena Eskilsson, adding that virtualisation is also a basic component of private and public cloud services, which are becoming more and more common.
