Forma Publishing Group, owned by Hakon, is placing full responsibility for its IT infrastructure on with archive and storage specialists Proact. This commission is said to be worth around SEK 7 million over three years.

Proact has been one of Forma’s most important IT suppliers for a long time now. Among other things, Proact has been responsible for development of the image and document management system Proact Ptwo, which has a central part to play in Forma’s production of magazines. Proact and Forma have also worked together to develop an advanced system for digital advertising flows – one of the most advanced in the industry.

This commission will be extended considerably when Proact takes over responsibility for the entire IT environment, in Proact’s data hall. The project dealing with the transition is in progress and should be completed in March. Proact’s duties will include taking overall responsibility for backups, the data hall, firewall and network as well as developing the IT environment and implementing ongoing improvements in terms of flexibility and scalability. Dependability will undergo further enhancement at the same time.

“We send magazines to print every day, and when we do we need to be sure that our production systems are safe and robust,” says Anneli Angeling, CIO of Forma.

Proact won the contract in the face of some tough competition from a number of other companies, and Anneli Angeling found her confidence in Proact being underpinned during the procurement process.

“Although we have had a great partnership with Proact for a long time now, we still opted to implement a thorough procurement process – and Proact came out on top. They are competitive and their expertise is outstanding,” says Anneli Angeling.

Forma Publishing Group is on of the biggest publishing houses in Sweden, producing Sweden’s biggest weekly magazine (Icakuriren), Sweden’s biggest monthly magazine (Hus & Hem) and Sweden’s biggest food magazine (Buffé).

Proact is growing quickly in the field of niche outsourcing services. Growth in this field amounted to 200 per cent in 200, and the company is anticipating similarly strong growth in. Proact has taken over the running of critical IT functions for a number of companies of late, such as NYX – which supplies online gaming systems – Aftonbladet and Cap Gemini.
